Sito Pons is a former Spanish motorcycle racer and team owner. He was born on May 12, 1959 in Barcelona, Spain. Pons was a two-time motorcycle world champion, winning the 250cc championship in 1988 and 1989. He also competed in the premier class of motorcycle racing, the 500cc class, from 1980 to 1989.
After retiring from racing in 1991, Pons founded his own team, the Pons Racing Team, which has competed in various motorcycle racing categories including Moto2 and MotoE. The team has won multiple championships and has been a successful platform for young riders to progress in their racing careers.
Pons is also known for his involvement in promoting motorcycle racing in Spain, including establishing the MotoGP race at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya. In recognition of his contributions to the sport, Pons was inducted into the MotoGP Hall of Fame in 2018.
